BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Benton Harbor Riverfest is preparing for its return on Friday for the first time in almost three decades.
Organizers and volunteers were at Yarborough Park on Thursday to remove debris and revamp the playground with new mulch.
"It's good to sort of know the city and so many areas like this area here, it’s great for recreation and I think that it’s just a beautiful spot,” said Emma Kinnard, a Benton Harbor Riverfest Organizer.
Many of the volunteers were from KitchenAid celebrating their Twelfth Annual Day of Giving for Benton Harbor.
"For KitchenAid, this is our community and we want to be part of it and we want to contribute our share to making Benton Harbor a great place,” said Doug Searles, a KitchenAid volunteer.
Riverfest begins on Friday at 4 p.m. and will be located at 880 Riverview Drive in Benton Harbor.
Tickets are $10 and Friday’s headlining talent is Niki Harris.
Harris is a Benton Harbor High School graduate who is a talented singer and once danced for Madonna.
