Benton Harbor School Board asking for multi-million dollar loan

The Benton Harbor School Board is asking the state of Michigan for a multi-million dollar emergency loan.

They are asking for a 4.4 million dollar loan but the loan has several conditions.

The conditions include that the loan can only be used to pay for missed payments, such as to contractors, or to settle lawsuits against the district.

It cannot be used for future fiscal issues.

The loan also comes with the contingency that the board must lay off 44 of their current workers.
