Benton Harbor teen dead after shooting reports

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. - A Benton Harbor life is taken too soon.

On September 23, around 2:00 p.m., Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety responded to a shooting at a residence in the 300 Block of Brunson Ave. 

There, officers found an injured 15-year-old- a Benton Harbor High School student. 

Medical interventions started and an investigation was initiated. 

The teen was sent to Corewell Health, Lakeland for further treatment, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

This tragic incident is under investigation and the teen's family as well as the Benton Harbor Area Schools have been notified. 

Police are not releasing the names of those involved at this time.
