Bethany Christian Schools suffer a tragic loss

A Michiana basketball team is mourning the loss of their teammate and friend, 18-year-old Anna Barnard.

Sunday night, ABC 57 reported Barnard tragically lost her life in a 2 vehicle accident in Granger.

Coaches and teammates from Bethany Christian Schools Girls’ Basketball team have a few things planned for Tuesday night’s game against Concord, but Head Coach Krysten Parson says just holding practice on Monday was something Barnard would have wanted.

Barnard had been enrolled at Bethany Christian Schools for just a year and a half, when her life was cut tragically short, Sunday night.

Barnard was an international student and during her short time at Bethany, Bernard lived with Parson.

Monday afternoon, Barnard’s teammates hit the hardwood in preparation for their Tuesday night game against Concord.

It will be the team’s first game since their tragic loss, and Parson says her teammates have already talked about what they’ll do to honor her memory.

“We kinda talked about that I just talked to the seniors, they kinda want to do a black band on their jerseys like you see a lot of teams do, we have seniors posters we’re gonna hang in gym anyway but her poster is going to be hanging with the rest of the seniors, we also talked about having her jersey on the bench, just hanging it over one of the chairs, to remember her,” said Parson.
