BHDPS investigating homicide in Benton Harbor
ABC 57 BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — On Wednesday, August 19, Berrien County Dispatch received a 911 call shortly before 5 a.m. from an unknown subject and location.
According to Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety, the caller’s voice was inaudible, and dispatch was unable to find the location of the emergency nor the identity of the caller.
Berrien County Dispatch pinged the cell phone and developed a possible location at or near the 100 block of Oden.
BHDPS units were dispatched and responded to the area. Officers located a 23-year-old black male subject lying in an alley. Officers then began lifesaving efforts on the subject. A short time later, the subject went unresponsive and officers detected what appeared to be possible gunshot wounds. Medic was called to the scene, but the subject soon died from his injuries prior to their arrival.
