Black bear sighted in western Michigan near elementary school

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A bear is on the loose in western Michigan.

It's been spotted in a  few areas, most recently in Plainfield Township, right near the elementary school.

Experts said typically black bears are not aggressive like grizzly bears.

So people may not be in much danger.

But even still, folks are watching their backs.

The DNR searched for the bear for hours on Thursday, but they could not find him.

They even set up a bear trap.
