Black Friday shoppers flock to University Park Mall

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Thousands of Michiana shoppers went to University Park Mall when it opened early for Black Friday sales at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

Business was steady for many stores, both big and small, during the night and well into the morning.

Store managers told ABC 57 that this was no surprise considering Black Friday is arguably the biggest shopping day of the year.

Stores offered discounted prices on their products, from Macy's 40-percent off certain home appliances to mall kiosks doing 2-for-1 deals.

Some businesses, like Apple and J. Crew, decided not to participate in the mall's Thursday night opening, but instead started their day at 6 a.m. Friday.

They reported good sales despite their late start.
