NOW: Blossom Acres tenants fed up with recent violence

BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich – Tenants at Blossom Acres apartment complex in Benton Harbor are fed up with the recent shootings at the complex.

“We have to come together and stop the violence man,” Former Blossom Acres tenant Eugene Hines said.

According to the Benton Township Police Department there was a shooting just before 6 p.m. Sunday evening.

According to police the shooting stemmed from a fight earlier in the day on Pavone Street in Benton Harbor.

The fight reignited at the Blossom Acres apartment complex Sunday evening and according to police witnesses say the victim was breaking up the second fight when he was shot in the stomach.

The victim was transported to Spectrum Health Lakeland hospital and treated for non-life threatening wounds to his stomach.

Police are still searching for the suspect in the shooting.

Sunday evenings shooting comes approximately one month after a person was shot at the same apartment complex.

Hines said he hopes the recent shootings at the apartment complex don’t become the norm.

“I raised my kids on Highland you know what I’m saying, it’s incredible man I don’t know about this young generation I pray for them,” Hines said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Benton Township Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (574) 288-Stop.
