Boat rescue saves three from Spear Lake

SPEAR LAKE, Ind. -- Three fishermen were rescued on Sunday afternoon by Indiana Conservation Officers after their boat sank on Lake Spear.

All three anglers were pulled from the water with the help of officers and nearby boaters.

The fishermen were safely transported to shore and were cleared by Emergency Medical Services with no injuries.

Investigators report that one of the fishermen fell into the water while trying to receive a fishing rod, which caused the boat to take on water and capsize.

The boat had no personal flotation devices on board, which are required by law.
