Body recovered on Indian Lake; victim identified

Cass County, MI – The body of a drowning victim was recovered early Sunday morning.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports that Sean Stewart’s body was recovered on Indian Lake at 9:30 a.m.

Stewart, 26, of Balitmore, Maryland was swimming off the back of a speed boart with some friends when they noticed he was missing, according to officials.

A search for the victim started immediately starting around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

The search was put off Saturday evening at sunset and began again Sunday morning at 8 a.m.

An autopsy was ordered by the Cass County Medical Examiner and the incident remains under investigation.

Assisting the Cass County Marine Division & Dive Team were Berrien County and Van Buren County Marine Division & Dive Teams, Indian & Sister Lakes Fire Departments, Pridecare Ambulance Service,  and Memorial Medflight from South Bend, IN.
