UPDATE: Bomb threat cleared on Prairie Avenue in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - UPDATE: As of 8:11 p.m., Friday, OmniSource confirmed the bomb threat is clear, and authorities have left the scene. Authorities have now confirmed that it was not a live device. The employees originally found the item amongst a load of scrap metal. No one was hurt.

ORIGINAL STORY: St. Joseph County Dispatch says at 1:39 p.m., Friday, the bomb squad was sent to OmniSource in the 1100 block of Prairie Avenue to check a found item.

There's been no confirmation of anything explosive at this time.

Authorities say there are currently four units on scene including the bomb tech and three fire units on standby.

The OmniSource, LLC website lists the business as one of North America's largest processors and distributors of scrap and secondary metals.
