Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County launches emotional well-being program
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County launched an in-house Emotional Well-Being Program to support the mental health of its kids, families, and staff.
The program emphasizes preventative mental healthcare, both screening those with early onset mental health concerns and helping those currently dealing with mental health challenges.
“Failing to assess early leaves youth at risk of more serious and severe mental and behavioral health problems, as well as social and academic problems,” said director of the program, Dr. Erica D. Kelsey, Ph.D, HSPP. “Through the Club, we want to give our families and staff the opportunities to address concerns, improve their well-being, develop resilience, and be their best selves.”
The program also offers individual and group counseling and intervention training for staff and families.
The first three years of the program has been funded through a grant by an anonymous donor.
