UPDATE: The South Bend Police Department reports officers responded to the 500 block of Colfax Avenue for reports of shots fired Tuesday afternoon.

Police arrived to find a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's name is being withheld pending family's notification.

The Violent Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate.

ORIGINAL STORY: SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department announced officers responded to a shots fired call in the 400 block of Colfax Avenue around 12:11 p.m., Tuesday.

ABC57 crew on scene stated there were at least seven units on scene.

Police now say the incident is being investigated as a shooting by the Violent Crimes Unit.

The scene was still active as of 1:30 p.m.
