Brian Kelly breaks silence on Golsons departure

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- University of Notre Dame Head Football Coach Brian Kelly broke his silence about the departure of Everett Golson.

Golson is no longer enrolled at Notre Dame and in a statement said it was because of “poor academic judgment.”

Golson was a quarterback for the Fighting Irish.

Kelly spoke to the media by phone about Golson’s non-permanent dismissal from the university.

"It's like being a dad. You know you're disappointed, you know these things happen, and you want your players to be accountable. So there's a big sense of pride in knowing that Everett handled himself in the right way. He took accountability and responsibility,” said Kelly.

Kelly said he would let Golson earn back his starting spot on the team.
