City of South Bend addresses trouble some short-term rentals
BRIDGMAN, Mich. -- Bridgman Public School unveiled new safety features installed both inside and outside their school buses.
The buses will have new red and yellow high visibility LED lights, high definition cameras inside and outside, an extra light mounted on the exterior to illuminate students as they walk to the bus.
Since the system was installed two weeks ago, five drivers have been ticketed for illegally passing stopped school buses.
“Hopefully as the word gets out that the camera system is live and operable, maybe people will pay more attention to the red lights. And really, it’s all about safety," Superintendent Shane Peters said.
Districts across Michiana are working to improve safety in the wake of the deadly crash in Fulton County last fall that claimed the lives of three siblings as they attempted to board their bus.
