Buchanan recall petitions approved by county election commission

BUCHANAN, Mich. - Two recall petitions filed by Buchanan residents have been approved by the Berrien County Election Commission.

The recalls target Buchanan Mayor Sean Denison and City Commissioner Dan Vigansky. The two have 10 days to appeal the recall, and then petitioners will have to collect at least 380 valid signatures for each recall.

If those signatures are collected, recall elections could happen in May or November 2024.

Four city commissioners voted to remove Vigansky over allegedly racially insensitive comments.

The petition against Mayor Denison is in response to him suspending then-City Manager Ben Eldridge, who later quit.
