Burst of accumulating snow, ice and sleet before a quieter period

A wintry mix will transition to a period of snow this evening into the first half of the overnight. With temperatures around freezing and only falling from there, slick roads and hazardous travel will likely ensue for those mainly north of U.S. 30. That's where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for 1-3" of snow and minor ice and sleet accumulation.

A quieter pattern overall settles in for the Sunday-Tuesday period. There could be a few flurries north of U.S. 6 Sunday night, with another chance of very light rain or snow showers Monday night into Tuesday. Those chances are at or below 20% with minimal, if any, accumulation. Temperatures do warm into the 40s thru Wednesday, though.

Things then get active with rain and perhaps a rain/snow mix late Wednesday before a more substantial system affects the region Friday and Saturday. That could be similar to the system we're seeing this weekend.

Tonight: A wintry mix and snow thru 3 a.m. Breezy. Low of 24

Sunday: Overcast. High of 33.

Monday: Mostly cloudy. High of 39.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy. High of 45.
