Bypass reopens after multi-car accident

10:30 AM Update: Bypass reopens to traffic. 


9:40 AM Update: Most of the vehicles involved have been towed, the road remains closed until it can be treated. Only one person was transported to the hospital with facial lacerations. The others either refused treatment or were not injured. 


9:20 AM Update: Eric Steltzer reports no injuries in this 9-car crash. Black ice is likely to blame. 


ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The US-20 Bypass is closed east bound starting at Elm Rd in St. Joseph county for a multi-car, multi-injury crash that happened just after 8 a.m. this morning.


Weather is the likely cause of the crash as lake effect  snow and gusty wind created slick roads and low visibility.
