California man pays tax bill in coins, dollar bills

REDDING, Calif. — A California man paid his $14,000 tax bill in coins and dollar bills.

Larry Gasper said that he had fallen upon hard times and had to ask around to help pay off the bill.

"I had to borrow some money. I've missed a few payments on my home to pay for my taxes for this piece of property," said Gasper. "My grand-kid's piggy banks, my daughter's piggy banks, my money, my change and a lot of people have offered to help a bit."

Gasper said he rolled the money himself and packed up the money in the back of his car to pay off his debt.
