CAPS hosts 4th annual Superhero 5K

ELKHART, Ind. -- Superheroes took over the streets of Elkhart on Saturday. It was part of the 4th annual CAPS Superhero 5k.

Every year, Child and Parent Services (CAPS) reaches about 5,000 people in Elkhart County. The nonprofit organization helps to make sure children live a life free from abuse and neglect. It does this through seven programs that combat child abuse through education, advocacy, and intervention.

Funds raised from Saturday's race will make sure those services can continue to be provided. According to the race's website, this year the organization hopes to raised $25,000. As of Saturday morning, almost $17,000 was raised.

In addition to the 5k, families also took part in a costume contest, dance, and other kid-friendly activities.
