Car crash in LaPorte County leaves one injured and another dead

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. – The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office reported that around 3:25 p.m. on Friday, deputies reported to the area of U.S. 35 and Nicomas Path for a two-vehicle personal injury crash.

Officials reported a green 2003 Honda Accord driven by Eric Adair, a 24-year-old Michigan City local, was traveling northwest on U.S. 35 approaching Nicomas Path when for an unknown reason the vehicle drove left of the center and began traveling in the southbound lane.

A silver 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Nathan Blout, a 32-year-old LaPorte local, was traveling southeast of U.S. 35, when the Honda collided with the Camry just south of Nicomas Path, stated the sheriff’s office.

The department stated following the crash, the Honda traveled back across both lanes and came to rest on the driver’s side along the northbound shoulder while the Toyota spun off into the west side of the roadway into a ditch, striking a tree before coming to rest.

The report stated Adair was pinned inside the vehicle and required extraction, suffering an upper-body injury, and airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment. Blout was trapped inside his vehicle and required extraction, suffering a lower-body injury and being airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment as well.

Saturday morning, Blout had succumbed to his injuries overnight as a result of the crash, reported deputies.

Deputies finished the report stating the crash investigation is ongoing and toxicology results are pending.
