Car crash sends two people to the hospital

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office reports that officers arrived to the scene of a car crash at CR 9 and Portland Avenue at 11:58 a.m. on Saturday.

Police say a vehicle heading south on CR 9 failed to yield when turning east onto Portland Avenue before colliding head on with another vehicle traveling north on CR 9.

The crash resulted in the driver, chest pain, and passenger, broken arm, of the northbound vehicle being transported by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital, police reported.

Police say the driver attempting to turn was uninjured and was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
