SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department reports officers responded to a hit-and-run on Friday, May 16, around 5:50 p.m. in the 1100 block of Johnson Street.
The report states a girl was riding her bike when she was hit by a car at the corner of Johnson Street and Vassar Avenue.
Officers were told the car had gone up onto the sidewalk and hit the child.
The victim told police the driver initially stopped, exited the car to check on her, but then drove away.
The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
