Cass County announces hazardous waste collection event

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- Cass County has announced a date for their annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection event.

On Saturday, May 11 the county will be accepting hazardous waste from citizens in order to combat the number of unsafe items left on roadsides.

From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., people can drop off their hazardous waste at the Cass County Fairgrounds.

The fairgrounds are located at 590 O’Keefe Street in Cassopolis.

Each car is allowed to leave 300 pounds worth of hazardous items at the event.

Beyond that, it will cost participants $1.75 per pound to get rid of hazardous waste.

The event will not be accepting tires or electronics this year.
