CDC report on public swimming pools

A new CDC report says thousands of public pools are forced to close each year because of safety violations.

The CDC is telling pool goers to be careful this year after their latest study revealed startling numbers.

On Thursday, the CDC released findings from pool inspection data that was collected in 2013 in five states with the most public pools and the results are not likely to pass swimmingly with most pool-goers.

According to the CDC, nearly 80% of the public aquatic venues inspected had at least one violation.

To protect yourself from an unsafe pool the CDC says you can check your pool’s latest inspections online or onsite.

Or you can do your own inspection.  If you look at the bottom of the deep end and you can see the drain, you’re in good shape.
