GOSHEN, Ind. -- The Center for Healing & Hope hosted a free community watch party Sunday evening in the parking lot of its Goshen medical building at 400 W. Lincoln Ave., built around Mexico's World Cup Round of 16 match against England.
The outdoor event featured a large public screen provided in partnership with a local outdoor-screening company, along with lawn games, a photo area, and food and drink vendors on site.
Attendees began arriving in the early evening, setting up chairs and gathering on the lawn ahead of kickoff, which was delayed by roughly an hour. Families were seen posing for photos at a large freestanding "MEXICO" letter display, playing cornhole, and purchasing from a Mexican dessert and juice truck parked on site.
One attendee, a woman attending her first Center for Healing & Hope event, said the gathering brought a sense of community togetherness and that she was looking forward to cheering on Mexico.
Daniel Tackett, a representative from the Center's marketing team, said the event was intended to be open to the entire community, not limited to any single group, even though the clinic serves a significant number of Mexican and immigrant clients and provides immigration-related support services. He said the organization hoped the event would raise broader awareness of its mission and impact, noting that the nonprofit operates entirely on donations and charitable funding.
