Charges filed in Mishawaka standoff

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The St. Joseph County Prosecutor has filed charges against a Mishawaka man at the center of a police stand-off.

Aaron Blacharski, 29, is accused of threatening to shoot two people on Sunday on Homewood Avenue in Mishawaka if they did not give him money.

Blacharski then went to a home in the 500 block of West Broadway Street in Mishawaka.

Police surrounded the home and tried to negotiate with the suspect.

After four hours, the SWAT team shot tear gas into the home and took Blacharski into custody.
