Checking back in with South Bend Family Dentistry

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – After a fire broke out at South Bend Family Dentistry on June 18^th, the employees there were scared they might not have jobs the next day.

South Bend Fire officials confirm the cause of the fire was incendiary and the investigation is still on-going.

The fire was contained to one exam room but the smoke and water damage was so severe the team with South Bend Family Dentistry had to find somewhere else to set up.

Temporarily, they’ve collaborated with Dr. Raider at 919 Jefferson Avenue in South Bend.

The mostly-female team says space is limited, and patients are still going to the original location, but they’re just happy to be able to do what they love to do.

“We’re still smiling and taking care of our patients,” says Amy, a dental hygienist.

But this story is about more than just picking up the pieces from such a tragic event; this is a story of how coworkers turned into sisters after that middle-of-the night wake-up call back on June 18^th.

“We pulled together as a team and we made it happen,” says Lelanea, who works the front desk at the dental office.

After learning the fire was set on-purpose, the three best friends say they’re staying strong.

”Now, it’s like okay, either way it goes, that’s still our home and we’re going back no matter what,” says Dionna, a dental assistant who’s been with the dental office for 9 years.

So just like that morning on June 18^th, they say they’re ready to move forward, together.
