Chevy Silverados recalled for possible leak in brake line

General Motors issued a recall for certain 2019-2023 Chevy trucks due to a possible brake fluid leak, posing an increased fire hazard.

Affecting more than 40,000 units, the brake pressure sensor assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch in three different models of medium-duty trucks, according to GM's report.

GM added that the leak may cause an electrical short-circuit, resulting in an overheated circuit and increased risk of a fire while driving or parked.

The following models are being recalled:

  • Chevrolet 4500HD 2019-2023
  • Chevrolet 5500HD 2019-2023
  • Chevrolet 6500HD 2019-2023

Owners are asked to park outside and away from structures until the repair is complete.

Owners should contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 with GM recall number N222375270.

Owners may also reach out through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
