Chicago woman accused of marijuana, handgun possession during traffic stop

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – A Chicago woman was arrested on Saturday after state troopers found a pound of suspected marijuana and a handgun in the vehicle she was driving, Indiana State Police reported.
At 11 p.m., troopers stopped a black 2016 Nissan for several moving violations as it was traveling east on the Indiana Toll Road near mile marker 105, two miles west of the Middlebury Exit.
Troopers smelled raw marijuana as they spoke with the driver, identified as 30-year-old Natalie Garcia, according to reports.
Troopers searched the vehicle and found several plastic bags of suspected marijuana, weighing approximately one pound, and a loaded handgun, reports said.
Garcia was arrested on the charges of dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana, and possession of a handgun without a permit.
She was taken to the Elkhart County Jail.
