SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A 2-year-old child was hit by a vehicle in the 1000 block of E. Indiana Avenue in South Bend Tuesday afternoon.
The incident happened around 4:45 p.m.
The driver who struck the child left his car, a gray Pontiac Grand Prix, as he ran from the scene. He is described as a white male in his 30s.
Police said the child was transported to the hospital with injuries.
St. Joseph County FACT is assisting in the investigation.
Police believe they have a person of interest.
