The County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting involving a child victim in South Bend.
South Bend Police were called to the 600 block of Leland Avenue just before noon for reports of a shooting.
When police arrived, they learned a family member had transported the child to the hospital.
The child was later pronounced deceased. The child's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
An autopsy will be conducted on Friday.
South Bend Police say the CMHU and Special Victims Unit are investigating.
