Child struck by vehicle Saturday, police say

St. Joseph County Police and other first responders were called to the intersection of Country Knolls Drive and Pine Tree Lane in Granger after a vehicle struck a child on a bicycle.

The accident happened around 4:12 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

First officers on the scene say they found 6 year-old Beck Ivie with serious injuries.

Investigators report that Ivie had been riding his bike in the neighborhood when the accident happened.

Police say 44-year-old Ty Dominiak of South Bend was driving his pickup truck at the time he collided with Ivie on his bike.

Crash reconstruction experts are investigating the possibility that the bicycle may have struck the driver’s side of the truck and been pulled partially under the truck.

Police say Dominiak and a passenger are cooperating with investigators.

The incident remains under investigation by the St. Joseph County Police Department.
