Children pulled from Tippecanoe river, one-year-old child in critical condition

PULASKI COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an incident in the Tippecanoe River--leaving a one-year-old child in critical condition.

The Pulaski County Dispatch Center received a 911 call at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, reporting two children, a one-year-old and a five-year-old, struggling in the water behind a residence on Stamper Dr. in Winamac.

When officers arrived, they determined the children were playing and entered the river for an unknown reason.

Family members intervened, pulling the children out of the water, when they heard the five-year-old calling for help.

The two children and two adult family members were transported to Pulaski Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The 1-year-old was later transported to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition.

This investigation remains ongoing.
