Christmas at the Bonine House

VANDALIA, Mich.—Beginning December 8th, the Underground Railroad Society of Cass County (URSCC) will host a Christmas-themed celebration.

Every year since 2012 the URSCC has decorated the Bonine House, which is the former home of Quaker abolitionists and Underground Railroad stationmasters James E. Bonine and Sarah Bogue Bonine.

Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and Jingles the elf will be on site for children of all ages.

The Bonnie Carriage House across the street, which housed runaway slaves, will also be decorated. Visitors to the Carriage House can visit the restored farm wagon with a false bottom, and an 1860s ladies’ cutler sleigh.

Christmas at the Bonine House will take place December 8th and 9th from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. located on Penn Rd and M-60 in Vandalia, Michigan.
