Cities continue to provide a warm place to go during power outage

MICHIANA – As residents across Michiana continue to deal with power outages, the cities of South Bend and Elkhart are providing warm shelter for those in need.

The warming site at the Century Center in South Bend will continue operations through Sunday night.

Residents can find this warming shelter at 120 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Dr. S., South Bend, IN 46601, and enter through the doors facing the parking lot.

South Bend and AEP will reassess the need for the warming center tomorrow as the outage continues to be resolved.

Central Fire station in Elkhart will stay open from 8 a.m. through 8 p.m. for those in need.

Residents can find this warming shelter at 500 East St., Elkhart, IN 46516.

The city of Elkhart will continue to reassess opening more stations as the need arises.

Masks and social distancing are required.
