City of Buchanan no longer uses pennies in government buildings

BUCHANAN, Mich. -- Monday, Jan. 19 will mark the first day the City of Buchanan will no longer have access to pennies.
Customers who pay bills in person with cash at City Hall are offered the following options:
- The amount due may be rounded down to the nearest amount City Hall is able to make change for, or
- If the charge is a recurring bill, such as water or sewer, the difference may be applied as a credit to the next bill.
