City of Elkhart moves to essential staff only
As of Wednesday, March 25, the City of Elkhart began operating with essential personnel only to slow the spread of COVID-19. First responders, utility operators, inspectors and other vital personnel will continue working, according to Mayor Rod Roberson.
Other staff members are working in an "on call" capacity. Those who are able to work from home are doing so.
Department heads will meet with the mayor via videoconferencing or phone conferencing and will be able dispatch staff as needed to handle urgent matters.
During this time, all staff, full and part-time, will be paid their regular salaries.
“This is a time of uncertainty our staff is feeling the anxiety along with everyone else. We are grateful we are able to continue to provide our employees with some financial security as they care for themselves and their families and do their part to flatten the curve," Mayor Roberson said in a press release.
