Bend, break, or bounce back?
MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Mishawaka's City Hall is now home to a piece of the battleship U.S.S. Arizona.
The battleship's loss has special meaning for Mishawaka natives. One of Mishawaka's own, seaman Arthur Albert Huys, was among the sailors who died on the ship.
"It is a piece of national importance that you know, not too many communities have, but that we're honored to have and are dedicating ourselves to making sure that it's not only well taken care of, but it is in a position of high prominence and accessible so that our citizens, whether now or in the future, can come here to honor and to see it," said Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood.
The Arizona was bombed during the attack on Pearl Harbor and was never repaired. Pieces of the ship still lie underwater below the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial.
