City of South Bend releases billboards featuring Black community leaders
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- During Black History Month, the City of South Bend has released billboards featuring Black leaders who have positively impacted the South Bend community.
The leaders being featured are Samuel Diggins Jr., Kesha "Kay" Farlow, Hollis Hughes Jr., Arnez Lee, Diana Miller, and Earl Townsend Jr.
Alexaundria Groves will be honored with the Leaders Under 40 Award, Brian Frazier with the Obama Award, and Charlotte Pfeifer with a special tribute.
The honorees will be shown on three digital billboards at South Bend Avenue and Edison Road, Lincolnway East and Ironwood Drive, and South Michigan Street and Ireland Road from Feb. 19 until Feb. 25.
Mayor James Mueller will host an award ceremony on Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. for the honorees at the Charles Black Community Center.
The event is free and open to the public.
