City of South Bend’s paving season begins May 2

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The City of South Bend’s 2022 paving season begins the week of May 2.

The city will focus on 113 streets that need repairs.

Each street will take approximately three to five days to complete paving.

Streets will be milled and prepped before paving and will be closed during working hours, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The paving is part of the city's Rebuilding Our Streets Plan, a multi-year project focused on how the City can improve area streets and keep the streets in good condition for longer periods of time.

The first three years of the plan will invest $25 million on streets based on the Pavement Surface Evaluation and Rating (PASER) score.

PASER assigns streets a rating from one to 10, 10 being a newly paved street.

The Rebuilding Our Streets Plan and the list of streets and their PASER scores can be found here.
