SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The City of South Bend wants to buy a pub that's been the site of several shootings.
At Monday's South Bend Common Council meeting, the city asked for approval of the purchase of Kelly's Pub for $275,000.
There was a late-night double shooting outside the pub in January.
And it was the site of a mass shooting in 2019 that killed a man and injured 11 others.
Kelly's was quietly put on the market and city staff have been in talks to buy it for months.
Along with addressing the repeated shootings, the city says buying the property would be helpful during planned streetscape improvements to Mishawaka Avenue.
You can view the full purchase proposal here.
