NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The Notre Dame men’s basketball team returned home to face the University of South Florida.
The Irish jumped out to a six to nothing lead and never trailed defeating the Bulls 60 to 49. It was the 29th consecutive home victory.
Scott Martin recorded his second straight double-double, and Jack Cooley led all scorers with 16 points.
The Irish improved to 3-1, in the Big East. They will face national champs UCONN on Saturday.
Some special guests were in attendance to put on a show during the game.
The Clay High Pep Band got a chance to play several songs at Purcell Pavillion. Band members say playing in front of an audience this large is a new and exciting experience.
“It’s pretty exciting because I have never done anything like this before,” said junior Deonna Minix. “This is pretty huge. I just love playing with the band, it’s so much fun.”
