The new climate normals have been issued for all of the United States. Every 10 years the average temperatures for the year are recorded, and placed into a data set that shows this temperature trend dating back all the way into the early 1900s. What are we seeing in the latest data? Well, once again a notable warming trend is still evident, not just here in Michiana, but across the United States and world.

Here in South Bend, since the early 1900s, the average temperatures has warmed around 2-4 degrees. That may not sound like a lot to you, but in a climate perspective it is quite an alarming trend. This trend isn't localized, it's nationally that we see the warmer temperatures holding steady.

Here at ABC 57 we cover stories that can help with making our environment healthier and safer. These stories shine a light on greener energy, recycling, and land preservation. These are all things that can lower our carbon emissions, and thus slow our global warming trend.
