CMHU investigating infant's death

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating the death of a 3-month old who was transported to the hospital after being found unresponsive at a local motel.

Police were called to the Way Inn, formerly the Rodeway Inn, on Wednesday for reports of an unresponsive infant around 12:30 p.m.

The infant, Arabella Silcox, was taken to the hospital and pronounced deceased.

There were no outward signs of trauma, but CMHU was called in out of an abundance of caution.

Investigators say Arabella was staying with her parents and a 2-year-old sibling at the motel. The parents have cooperated fully, investigators said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
