SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A 20-year-old woman is facing a felony charge after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student while acting as the color guard coach at Penn High School in early 2025.

Court documents reveal the suspect, Breanna Schooley, is facing one count of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, a Level 5 Felony.

Schooley's initial court hearing is scheduled for July 1.

Schooley made bond a week ago and currently not in jail.

According to the probable cause affidavit in the case, on April 16, 2025, the St. Joseph County Special Victims Unit of the South Bend Police Department was notified of the potential sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.

Initially, when interviewed, the victim stated nothing happened between Schooley and her.

The victim's parents then gave investigators consent to search the victim's cell phone after they told police they had suspicions of an inappropriate relationship.

Upon searching the phone, investigators found the victim and Schooley had been communicating through Instagram.

The following contains information some may find disturbing.

Investigators say one message sent from Schooley to the victim read, “I’ve yearned for more time with you. Ever since I kissed your lips, I yearned for your touch and to touch you. Ever since I’ve touched you, I’ve yearned to see what else I could do.”

Police once again interviewed the victim after finding the messages. The victim then told investigators Schooley and her had sexual relations in a bathroom and the locker room at Penn High School on two separate occasions beginning in mid-March 2025.

Schooley was 19 at the time and the victim stated she was her color guard coach.

When interviewed on May 7, 2025, Schooley informed police she did have sexual relations with the victim on two occasions in the bathroom and locker room.

Schooley stated she and the victim were too close, and the relationship exceeded a normal coach and student relationship by becoming physical with one another.
