Comets have revenge on their mind as they travel to Culver

ROCHESTER, Ind. -- It's been a solid start to the season for the Caston Comets, with a record of four and one heading into Friday's game. But they've got revenge on their mind, as they get ready to face a familiar foe who got the best of them last year.

Sept. 26, 2025, nearly a year ago today. Culver defeats Caston in a 12 to 7 in a defensive slugfest, on the Comets' homecoming night.

It's a date Caston's players and staff remember, but not fondly.

"We went into the game, we thought we were going to beat them, practiced all week like we weren't going to beat them, and we didn't beat them," says Brayden Unger, Caston senior tight end.

364 days later, the Comets are looking to exact some revenge.

"Last year, when we gave one away or they took one from us, however you want to look at it, whatever side you're on, it really starts to mess with standings overall so we've got to make sure we are putting ourselves as high on the rung that we can, really playing to the standard that we expect," says Chris Ulerich, Caston head coach.

"They're a good physical team; we're a very good physical team. I think it'll come down to coaching and who's been coached better. We've got a very good coach, coach Ulreich is pretty good, but he wants us playing grunt nose football and just run up the middle and beat them there," says Unger.

Caston comes into Friday's game at four and one, fresh off of a dominant win over South Central in which they only gave up 6 points.

But if they want to put another win in the win column tonight, they need to know it's not going to come easy.

"Culver is not going to beat themselves, they play hard, they are well coached, and if you give them any opening, they are going to take advantage. They will kick the door in, they will kick the door open, and last year, they made more plays than we did," says Ulerich.

The Cavaliers and Comets will kick off at 7 p.m. from Cavalier Field.
