Commission to look at design plans for Ignition Park

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Redevelopment Commission will take a look at an Ignition Park master plan Tuesday afternoon.

The Commission will be acting on a proposal to green light spending $335,000 for a company to prepare design development documents for parts of the project.

Tuesday's meeting will also feature securing third-party pricing for construction costs, which could exceed $9.2 million dollars.

Included in the multi-million dollar price tag for this phase of construction is roadways, utilities and a storm water management ecosystem.

Developers want to use 140 acres of land that used to house the Studebaker Corporation and turn flip the land to feature green boulevards, and energy center, canals and a rain-water harvesting ecosystem.

The Commission will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 13th floor conference room at the County City Building.

Ignition Park is bounded by Sample Street on the north, Lafayette Boulevard on the east, Indiana Avenue on the south and Chapin Street on the west.
