Historic Chapin Mansion grand reopening celebration to be held August 20
NILES, Mich. – A Grand Reopening Celebration will be held at the Historic Chapin Mansion on August 20.
The mansion has been closed since February for construction and renovations to the interior, upper balcony and porch. Work was completed in July.
At the grand opening, visitors will be able to tour the mansion, enjoy live music from Phil Anderson and meet Mr. and Mrs. Chapin as portrayed by historic re-enactors.
The mansion's upper balcony and north porch have been renovated and an ADA compliant accessibility ramp has been added.
The $280,000 project was paid for through multiple grants.
Tours will resume on Fridays and Saturdays at 1 p.m. after the August 20th reopening celebration.
The Grand Reopening Celebration will be held August 20 from 5 -7 p.m. at the Chapin Mansion, 504 E. Main Street, Niles Michigan. The event is free and open to the public.
