SOUTH BEND, Ind.-Fasting for a change; that’s what some community members are doing to make sure their voices are heard.
Many are invited to come together to fast, pray and act on the Dream Act. The event starts at 5 p.m. at St Adalbert’s Parish. The event itself is called “We fast, pray and act with Antonia Alvarez.”
Alvarez is one of the leaders who has brought to light the movement. She is mother of three DACA recipients and one U.S. citizen.
She began a ten day fast on December 4TH outside of the Capitol in Washington D.C. and now she’s asking you to become part of the movement.
People in Indiana will take part tonight and many who attend will be making phone calls and writing letters to congress starting at 5.
These efforts are being made in hopes of moving leaders’ for a new Dream Act. It’s hosted by the Coalition for Social Justice. The address of the parish is 2420 Huron Street in South Bend.
